How to wear Pantone’s Colour of the Year

Image NAIN

Every year, Pantone makes a ‘symbolic color selection’ – a colour to rule lesser colours for twelve long months. This year, the Pantone team have chosen greenery – a ‘fresh and zesty yellow-green shade’ signalling consumers to ‘reinvigorate’.

So how do you incorporate this tricky colour into your wardrobe without looking like a) fashionable shrubbery b) Oscar the Grouch or c) someone taking their juice cleanse a little too seriously? I’ve chosen my favourite looks for each occasion.

To the OFFICE

Pair a bright, warm-toned green skirt with a bold handbag and top to produce a delicious tropical effect — the perfect antidote for office blues!

To the DAYTIME DATE

Up your daytime date game by pairing a lush and impactful green shoe with some faded denim jeans. Casual with a pop of sophistication.

To BRUNCH

Avoid being mistaken for the garden salad by limiting your greenery to an accessory. Wear it with a smorgasbord of summer sorbet hues for extra ‘zest’, or if you’re currently heading into winter, pair this with a pale trench coat to brighten up a chilly morning.

To a NIGHT OUT

Fun, elegant and naturally sensual, greenery is the perfect choice for a night out. Voluptuous sleeves and a simple cut will amplify the sumptuousness of this hue.

To the GYM

With Nike offering sneakers in every colour under the sun, why not try out a softer green to create the ultimate, 80s-inspired workout ensemble?
